Sith Temple
Byss

Dim light flowed throughout the cavernous training room as the dark-skinned Shadow Hand stood motionless in the center of the concrete slab that served as a training platform for the boy before hm.  It had been weeks now since Cameron forcefully removed Diomedes Antares from Coruscant.  In that time, the Shadow Hand had learned that the boy had been quite busy during his brief stay on Coruscat - even going as far as to learn skills from one Kari Pujas.  The Shadow Hand would deal with the slave later, but it was of little consequence at the moment.  Fortunately for Cameron, Diomedes did at least come to him with some amount of basic martial ability.

As a result, the Sith Lord had only needed to break the boy down...push him to the brink of insanity only to grab his shoulder and pull him back before he slipped over the edge.  The teenager that knelt before Cameron was broken, filled with rage, and had literally nothing.  Cameron knew this would be Diomedes' lot in life for years to come.  ~You are not focusing, boy.  Perhaps you require more incentive?~  The Sith Lord smiled darkly at his son, standing with his hands claped behind the back of his bare torso.

Fortunately, his face was cast down at the ground beneath him.  Otherwise, Lord Illuminus would see the intensity of his hatred...and probably just try and egg him on.  He had been a fan of that, playing on his hatred of the man's very existence.  When he'd initially awoken on a shuttle headed for Byss, Diomedes had attempted to fight the man with every fiber of his being.  Again and again...he was defeated, beat within an inch of his life, and then healed.  The process seemed to repeat itself endlessly until the boy finally gave into his apparent fate.  However, what the Sith Lord had apparently seen as submission and obedience was in fact Diomedes acknowledging that he would merely have to bide his time.

Coming to his feet, Diomedes fixed Lord Illuminus with a glare that could melt paint.  In one fluid motion, the boy drew both of his hands together and poured all of his emotion...his hatred...his confusion...his longing for his mother...into the attack.  A medium-sized ball of Kinetite gradually built up in the palms of both his hands.  Having learned from previous attempts, Diomedes allowed the ball to continue to grow until he could feel beginning to approach critical mass.  Maybe, just maybe...the attack would kill the bastard.  Throwing his arms out in front of him, the pure anger of his attack seemed to cause the Kinetite to explode as it rocketed towards Diomedes' target.

Cameron's smile did not dissipate as the boy finally managed to control his attack...even if only partially.  Seemingly effortlessly, the Sith Lord raised his right hand.  Dropping his left leg back slightly to help brace himself, he began absorbing the energy of Diomedes' attack before it had even fully reached his body.  The force of the boy's attack caused the Sith Lord to slide backwards a coule feet as he fought against the strength of the attack to render it completely harmless.

Once the energy had been absorbed into Cameron's body, the Sith Lord quickly pressed on his own attack.  His ball of Kinetite, however, was large and controlled.  The massive ball of energy flew almost fast enough to not be seen - almost.  What happened next, the Sith Lord very plainly did not expect.

Diomedes felt it happening in just barely enough time to react.  Allowing the power of the Force to flow through him, he immediately dashed to the left before doubling back to the right as he advanced on the Sith Lord attempting to attack him.  The emotions that had fueled his previous attack and had only been further inflamed by the man's continuous attempts to kill him.  He was done.  It ended today.  Rage rippled through his body as his ability to sense and use the Force seemed to almost double instantly.  The dark side was feeding off of his every emotion, and the teenager scarcely noticed it.  Cameron Centurion would though...

Much to his surprise, the boy managed to close the distance between him and the Sith Lord fast enough to land a powerful blow to the man's ribs.  As the older, more experienced Sith recoiled slightly, Diomedes wasted no time.  In an instant, he was attempting to press home yet another attack on the man, but he quickly realized what a mistake it was...  Blue tendrils of force lightning crackled from the man's fingertips and arced down from the ceiling.  The pure dark side energy ripped through the boy's body and quickly began contorting his insides with every negative emotion pouring into the dark side - much of it his own.  Reacting on desperation and a desire to succeed, the boy continued his attempts to attack the man.

Stretching out his arm, Diomedes figured if he could just grab a hold of the man's neck...he could crush it.  However, his arm was well out of reach.  Laughter.  I hate that fucking laugh!  Anger continued to pour into Diomedes, sustaining him and strengthening his will.  He could see himself crushing the life out of the man's neck.  In his mind's eye, Diomedes watched as life slowly drifted from the eyes of his father.  Diomedes smiled and then, suddenly, the force lightning stopped.  It caught the boy completely off guard as he suddenly fell forward onto his face.  Pushing himself up, he glanced in the direction of the Sith Lord and saw the man rubbing his neck gently...STILL...fucking smiling.  Growling, Diomedes sat up.  ~Fuck you.~

Cameron rolled his eyes.  "You should endeavor to diversify your vocabulary, boy."  Cameron did not train Diomedes as he trained Saia for one, very simple reason.  He only needed Diomedes to be a warrior...a force of power that Cameron could wield to carry out operations either independently or under the supervision of another.  Saia, on the other hand, was a child that he was grooming to replace the children he'd had biologically...all of them failures.  However, Diomedes could be used to Cameron's advantage one day perhaps...for now, he would serve as little more than an assassin that did his bidding and learned only what he needed to know.  All those the Sith Lord chose to claim as apprentices had a very specific purpose in the galaxy...a specific future.  From clone to child to arrogant bastard...they would all serve Cameron one way or another.  Such was his way.  The thought brought the thinnest of smiles to his facial features.

"Your power is increasing, Diomedes...at a rate much faster than I could have anticipated.  Then again, you have likely been drawing on the strengths of the Force for years and hardly realizing it.  Why do you think you had such successes as an athlete?  An underground fighter?  Things come easy to you because you carry my blood in your veins.  The blood of power and strength.  However, you are not completely ready.  You must learn control, or the dark side will destroy you.  You want me dead?  Really want me dead?  You will have to earn that right...and you still have yet very far to go."  Falling silent, Cameron glanced to the wounds that riddled the boy's body.  "The Force has healing properties just as much as it has destructive, boy.  Focus your thoughts...feel the very cells in your body and influence the Force to repair them...enhance them.  Just as the Force enhances your physical properties, it can repair those that are damaged."

I am fate.

Diomedes listened...though he pretended not to.  Glancing down at the wounds on his bodies, the boy instantly began feeling the pain that had been absent until now.  Wincing slightly, he reluctantly nodded to Cameron and closed his eyes.  Focusing his emotions through the Force, he allowed his feelings to flow forth.  When he felt that he had connected deep enough to the Force, the teenager attempted to influence it to stitch his wounds.  A searing heat erupted over his flesh as he felt...something beginning to happen.  However, as soon as it began, it stopped - leaving the boy with partially repaired wounds.  Clearly...he would have to practice such a 'benevolent' power.  His only real strength was his anger.

Cameron watched in silence.  He expected the boy to have trouble with all but the most...martial of abilities.  Truthfully, Diomedes' passion for life and strength of emotion was a dangerous combination.  On the one hand, it had the ability to grant him increasing levels of power and brute strength.  However, it could serve as a weakness if it was not tempered with intelligence and the ability to strategize.  One day, Diomedes would be a leader - not of the political variety, but a warrior to be reckoned with.  Until then, the teenager had much to learn.  "Anger does not unlock every gate to the power of the Force, boy."

Walking towards Diomedes, Cameron clasped his hands behind his back.  "Earlier...you were able to choke almost without knowing what you were doing.  This time...control your emotions and allow it to happen only when you want.  The more you pour your feelings into the action, the greater potential for increasingly intense effects.  Do it."

Diomedes merely stared blankly at Cameron.  He didn't know how he'd done it, and fatigue was quickly starting to set into his body.  "I can't."

Cameron obliged the boy by sending another burst of force lightning into the partially open wounds on his body.  Immediately the wounds were agitated and became worse than they had been before.  "Then you're as weak as your mother had been.  Why do you think I left her and you?  I wanted nothing to do with your filth."

That was the trigger.  Rage surged through Diomedes' body and he immediately raised his right hand into a fist.  In his mind, he envisioned Cameron struggling above the ground, legs and arms flailing as he gasped for breath.  A sadistic smirk etched its way into Diomedes' features as he watched the Force respond to his thoughts.  Fueled by his anger, the boy had gone beyond a simple choke and had taken a hold of every part of his father's body.  The boy's nails dug into his palm as he tried to squeeze his fist harder and harder...hoping it would cause the man's very body to implode.

For his part, Cameron maintained as much control of his situation as he could...but there was only so much anyone could do in such a situation.  His best bet was to force Diomedes to break concentration otherwise...well...even Sith Lords could be killed if they were careless.  With flick of his wrist, the Sith Lord sent a powerful wave of energy from the Force slamming into Diomedes' mid-section, causing him to go reeling backwards.  Falling back down to the ground, the Sith Lord coughed severely for a few brief moments before coming to his feet.  Smirking, he nodded his head.  "Good.  Now go and see the medics.  You begin training with the Shadow Legion in the morning.  You have, at best, a month before we depart.  Learn from the Commander.  You will replace him one day."

The Commander was, in fact, a Colonel in the Marines.  Effective immediately, the Shadow Hand was commissioning his son as a Captain within his personal task force.  The boy had a bright future leading military personnel.

Summary

Participants: Cameron Centurion, Diomedes Antares

Story: Two weeks after removing his son from Coruscant, Sith Lord Cameron Centurion continues to train the teenage boy in the ways of the dark side.  Relying on the boy's tendency to anger easily, Cameron focuses on the more emotion-induced abilities of the Sith.  By the end of the training session, the Shadow Hand commissions his son as a Captain in the Marines and sends him off for further training.  Only time will tell if Diomedes Antares can control his emotions long enough to learn from his father....before plunging a blade into the man's heart.
